BMW has brought the all-new i8 Spyder to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, where it was officially presented to the public for the first time on the continent.

After it made its official debut back in March, the BMW i8 Spyder is ending up in our news once again, this time with the model being brought to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, where it shared the same space with the i3 Coupe and with other models signed by BMW.

The i8 Spyder Concept is rumored to hit the market over the following years and the final production version of the model is expected to be the ultimate supercar with high performance and low fuel consumption, fitted with the latest technology.

As a quick reminder, the BMW i8 Spyder Conceot is powered by the same engine as the i8 Coupe, a 1.5 liter three-cylinder gasoline burner, producing 220 HP and 221 lb-ft of torque, “moving” the rear axle, and an electric motor for the front wheels, which is generating 131 HP.

The system is producing a total output of 349 HP and 405 lb-ft, mated to a twin-speed transmission which is allowing the model to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph.
