Several celebrities attended the ceremony including singer Jordin Sparks, who sang a medley of songs from Disney movies.
She joined the ribbon-cutting with actress Ginnifer Goodwin. Dancers from hit live show "Dancing with the Stars" also performed a dance with a melody from "Beauty and the Beast".
The new Fantasyland is part of the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, expanding from 10 acres to 21.
The multimillion dollar project includes new and reimagined attractions inspired by classic Disney stories and characters, and many long-standing favorite attractions have been preserved.
A ride called Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is still under construction and will open in 2014. It’s the largest expansion in the park’s 41-year history.
