Based on the medieval legend ‘Swan Knight’, the story concerns a scheming couple, a deluded king, an absent heir to the throne and Elsa, a damsel in distress accused of her brother’s murder.
Her champion arrives in a swan-drawn boat and offers his services under two conditions: she marry him and she never ask his name. Naturally she cracks; the hero reveals himself as Lohengrin, a Grail Knight whose power only exists with his anonymity. But although the couple is torn apart, the Holy Grail emerges victorious.
