Hong Kong film invited to premiere at Cannes

BEIJING, Nov. 11(Xinhuanet)-- Hong Kong Director Tsui Hark's new martial-arts epic"Seven Sword" has been invited to hold its world premier at next years Cannes Film Festival.

Both the movie and the television series with the same name, are currently being shot, and will be released to Chinese audiences next year.

With an investment of 1 billion yuan, more than 120 million US dollars,"Seven Sword" is the first product after the industrialization of China's film and television circles.

The film which is an adaptation from novel with the same name written by Chinese author Liang Yusheng, explores how swords are made, why they drift all over the country, and how they find their new masters.

The masters are played by popular Asian starts including South Korea actress Kim So Yeon, Chinese mainland actor Lu Yiand Hong Kong stars Leon Lai and Donnie Yen.
