2005-02-07 00:20:08 XinhuaEnglish

BEIJING, Feb. 7--The next James Bond movie will be based on late author Ian Fleming's first book featuring the suave spy- Casino Royale.

Goldeneye director Martin Campbell will return to the franchise for the film, Fleming's most violent and sadistic 007 story- but producers have still not confirmed who will take over from Pierce Brosnan in the lead role.

MGM vice chairman Chris McGurk says:"Martin is an incredibly exciting film- maker. Goldeneye was a wonderful movie and helped reinvigorate the Bond franchise. We're thrilled to have him back to direct the newest Bond."

Screen idols Clive Owen, Hugh Jackman and Dougray Scott are currently favourites to take over from Brosnan as Bond.(Source:CRIENGLISH.com)
