BANGKOK, Oct. 8(Xinhuanet)-- Some 300 Chinese visitors arrived in Bangkok Saturday evening, the first group of 7,000 Chinese visitors for a weekend tour of this eastern city and popular resort of Pattaya, who are expected to boost Thailand's tourism revenue.
The Chinese visitors, all outstanding salespersons of a major Chinese health-tonic firm, are visiting Thailand at their company's expense, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Suwat Liptapanlop said on a press conference on Friday.
Suwat said he hoped that all 7,000 Chinese would help boost cultural exchange and trade between the two countries in the future. He expected that they will spend more than 200 million baht(5 million US dollars) during their stay.
The firm, Pro Health Co., Ltd., also plans to bring some 20,000of their staff to visit the country's southern resort island of Phuket next year, he said.
