Painting exhibit marks Chinese New Year

SHENYANG, Jan. 21(Xinhuanet)-- An exhibition of traditional Chinese painting opened Friday in this capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province, with a theme to review 20th century's painting and promote traditional Chinese art.

The exhibition is part of activities to mark the upcoming lunar Chinese New Year, the most important holiday in China.

During the three-month show, 61 masterpieces, created by 55 top painters including Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Fu Baoshi and Li Keran in the period from 1901 to 2000, will be on display at the Liaoning provincial museum.

The valuable paintings cover a wide range of subjects, representing the highest level of traditional Chinese painting, said an expert with the museum. Enditem
