Oscar winner Hoffman signs onto new film

BEIJING, March 9-- Philip Seymour Hoffman, coming off his triumphal Academy Award for best actor for"Capote," will reportedly star in the new film"The Savages" with Laura Linney.

According to the Variety, Hoffman will be starting work next month on the Fox Searchlight production.

"The Savages," to be filmed in the United States on the East Coast, is the story of a brother and sister forced to take care of their sick father, whom they had already broken away from.

Linney, star of the"Truman Show" and"Mystic River," will play Hoffmann's sister in the film.

Hoffman, 38, also has a role in"Mission Impossible 3" with Tom Cruise, set for U.S. release in May.
