The regulations also limit the age of contestants to 18 or above and adjudicators are requested not to put embarrassing question to contestants.

"We will closely follow the regulations," said Ha Wen, producer of"Dreaming China", an entertainment TV show on CCTV, China's central television station."Selected contests will be broadcast by non-satellite service channel."

Li Hao, director of the editorial department at Hunan Satellite Television, said the biggest problem could be the"Super Girl" contest that needs to be hosted in different areas of China with the final hosted in Hunan Province.

"We will be more cautious with Super Girl 2006 to avoid unnecessary errors," Li said. Ha said the age for program participants has been strictly limited to over 18 following international convention.

"We will make efforts to apply for the approval of contestants under the age required by the television administration," Ha added.

In addition, the administration suggested that adjudicators should make well-intentioned, practical and encouraging comments instead of unrealistic or embarrassing censures of participants.

"Hunan Satellite Television is going to make some improvements in the selection of adjudicators beforehand and the evaluation system of the contest," Li said.

"I could say that the style of our program has been sound, though we didn't invite adjudicators to our programs before," Ha said.

Further, the clothes and decorations participators wear should not be in poor taste, according to the administration.

Last year, contests like"Dreaming China" and"Super Girl" programs, designed for ordinary people to able to fulfill their dreams and appear on TV, became the most widely watched TV programs in the country.
