BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- China's leading think tank hosted scholars of Mongolian history from around the world Sunday to discuss Genghis Khan and his empire that was founded 800 years ago.

More than 50 recognized historians and social scientists presented their latest finds on the transcontinental empire and Genghis Khan at the International Symposium for Genghis Khan and the Founding of the Mongolian Empire organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).

Chinese scholars said honest and objective views on Genghis Khan and his empire were conducive to scientific research on the important historical period.

They welcomed exchanges of different views with their Mongolian, Russian and Japanese counterparts.

Historians believe the powerful Mongolian empire was significant in the creation of the modern world.

China is rich in research resources on Genghis Khan and the Mongolian Empire, many of which are based on the legendary Secret History of the Mongols.

The CASS Center of Mongolian Studies gave away at the symposium the panorama research of the Chinese scholars on the Genghis Khan topics, The Proud Son of Heaven and Man of Great Achievements. Enditem
