HONG KONG, April 11 (AP) -- Chinese pop diva Faye Wong's daughter recently underwent a second successful operation for a cleft lip in the United States, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

Wong's husband, actor Li Yapeng, mentioned the surgery at a news conference promoting his new TV series, the Beijing Star Daily newspaper said.

The newspaper said Li was reluctant to discuss their daughter, Li Yan, only saying he had gone to the U.S. for four days and that her surgery went smoothly.

Li discussed his daughter's first operation, also in the U.S., in his blog in August. He said that procedure was also successful.

Li Yan was reportedly born in Beijing last May 27.

Wong, a Beijing native who made her name in Hong Kong, started out in mainstream Chinese pop but branched out into more alternative fare.

She was hugely popular in China and Hong Kong in the mid-1990s but has unofficially retired from the entertainment scene in recent years.

Wong has another daughter from her previous marriage to Chinese rocker Dou Wei.
