Harry Potter flies to China in July
2007-05-08 02:28:35 Shanghai Daily

SHANGHAI, May 8 -- "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth film adaptation in JK Rowling's boy wizard series, is expected to hit Chinese movie screens in July after it got the green light from the country's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

But it's not clear whether China will be one of the countries to participate in the global premiere, which has been set for July 13, Chongqing Morning Post reported today.

"The administration has hardly made any cuts to the film," said an insider.

Harry Potter V is directed by David Yates, and Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint remain on the cast.

A new trailer for the adaptation was released last month.

The trailer appears to show a much darker film than previous efforts, with Harry declaring at one point: "If Voldemort is building up an army, then I want to fight," according to a previous Xinhua report.

It also shows the beginning of Harry's first on-screen kiss with co-star Katie Leung, who plays his girlfriend Cho Chang.

Yates said that he will direct "Harry Hotter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth adaptation.

There's further to go in this film, Yates said.

Radcliffe, Watson and Grint are reported to have signed contracts for the last two Harry Potter adaptations, the Half-Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows.
