SHANGHAI, May 9 -- South Korean singer and actress Jang Nara will stage concerts in Beijing next month, a news report said today.

Jang plans to sing both in Chinese and Korean, and perform in Chinese costumes at her concerts, slated for June 8-9, Yonhap news agency reported, citing her father Ju Ho-sung, who organized the event.

Jang will also showcase traditional Korean dances, the report said.

"We plan to make it a forum of harmony that goes beyond being simply a concert," Ju was quoted as saying.

Jang, 26, has gained popularity in China, where she released Chinese-language albums and starred in dramas in recent years.

Jang made her debut in South Korea in 2001, and rose to almost instant stardom for her comical acting in "Successful Story of a Bright Girl," in which she played a leading role as a girl from a poor family who overcomes hardships to realize her dream.
