LOS ANGELES, May 21 (Xinhua) -- "Shrek the Third," an animated flick, grossed 121.6 million dollars domestically between Friday and Sunday, setting a record for an animated opening, final figures showed on Monday. The movie knocked "Spider-Man 3" out of the top spot at the U.S.market. "Spider-Man 3" raked in another 29 million dollars, boosting its domestic take in three weeks in release to 282.3 million dollars. In third place was "28 Weeks Later" (5.4 million), followed by "Georgia Rule" (3.74 million) and "Disturbia" (3.73 million). Rounding out the top 10 were "Fracture" (2.2 million), "Delta Frace" (1.8 million), "The Invisible" (1.3 million), "Hot Fuzz" (1.2 million) and "Blades of Glory" (1 million). The dozen top-grossing films earned a combined 173.5 million dollars over the weekend, up 12.03 percent from the 154.9 million generated by the top 12 movies during the same period a year earlier.
