State Councilor calls for improving cultural relics protection

BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili on Tuesday called for improving the preservation of China's cultural relics to be "responsible for the nation and history".

Addressing a conference on the third national survey of cultural relics, Chen said protecting cultural relics is of great significance to maintaining the links of the Chinese nation, carrying forward the fine traditional culture, enhancing national unity, inspiring the nation and boosting social harmony.

She urged enhancing personnel training for the survey and applying modern technologies, including remote sensing and the global positioning system, to obtain accurate data efficiently.
