KATHMANDU, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The United States will run skill development training in rural areas of Nepal so as to regain economic stability and self-reliance after the conflict. Speaking at a program organized here Tuesday on the occasion of the 55th year of service of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nepal, U.S. Ambassador James F. Moriarty said Nepalese villagers will now be given vocational training. "More than 1.2 million people have been literate from the educational programs run in various parts of Nepal by the USAID, and child and maternal mortality rate have decreased remarkably," he said. USAID Director Dan Clark said Nepal needs more help at this transitional phase and the rural areas will be given assistance through various organizations based on non-governmental organizations and community. USAID has been cooperating in some sectors including road, educational institutions, hospitals, telecommunications, airport and communications.
