BEIJING, Jun 20 -- Chinese director, Zhang Yimou, probably hasn't thought about featuring himself in his works. However, one Japanese film company apparently thinks a biopic of the internationally acclaimed director will be worth millions of dollars. The Chinese Business View newspaper on Wednesday quoted sources from the ongoing Shanghai International Film Festival as saying, the Japanese film production company and distributor, Video Planning, is planning a 1.81 million U.S. dollar documentary, aiming to showcase how the 55-year-old director developed his celebrated career. It is likely to feature scores of exclusive interviews with Zhang Yimou and his friends. No further shooting or distribution plans are revealed in the report. Born in November 1951, Zhang Yimou made his directorial debut in 1987 with the Golden Bear Best Picture "Red Sorghum." He later went on to produce some of the most successful movies in China, including "Hero," "House of Flying Daggers," and the "Curse of the Golden Flower." (Source: CRIENGLISH.com)
