Radio regulator slashes sex programs
2007-09-06 02:37:45 Shanghai Daily

SHANGHAI, Sept. 6 -- CHINA'S broadcasting and film regulator yesterday blasted two radio stations for airing obscene sex-related programs and ordered them to cancel the show.

Sichuan Broadcasting Station and Chengdu Broadcasting Station aired the programs after 9pm for two to three hours every day, which boasted the function of sex drugs by describing various aspects of sex, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television said on its Website.

The content was obscene, tainting the social environment and young minds, the administration said.

Such programs seriously damaged the stations' images and ruin the reputation of the broadcasting industry, the administration said.

The administration ordered the two stations to immediately stop the programs and punished the operators.

It also told all radio and television stations to stop sex-related programs.
