SHANGHAI, Sept. 26 -- A WOMAN was given the death sentence yesterday in Henan Province for killing her lover with a poisonous kiss, Xinhua news agency reported today.

Xia Xinfeng had an affair with the victim Mao Ansheng for years. They both lived in Maolou Village, Yuanyang County in Xinxiang City, the report said.

The couple used to say that if either one of them cheated on the other one he or she would have to die. However, Xia found Mao was talking with another woman on January 8 and she deemed that Mao had abandoned their promise.

When they dated on January 9, Xia held a capsule with rat poison in her month and passed to Mao's mouth during a kiss, the report said.

Mao swallowed the capsule and died soon after.
