NEW DELHI, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Indian young navy officers must prove themselves to be performers by developing leadership qualities and strength of character to imbibe wisdom in their pursuit to serve the nation, said Rear Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command.
He was speaking after reviewing the conclusion parade of the fifth naval orientation course at the prestigious Ezhimala Naval Academy on Saturday, the national newspaper The Hindu reported on Sunday.
Ninety nine trainee officers including 23 women and six from coast guard, who successfully completed their 20-week long hectic training schedule will join naval warships for sea experience except the logistics group which will proceed for further training.
"As you set forth on the challenging career ahead, always remember that you belong to an elite organization that is one of the corner stones of our national security," the general said.
The fifth course comprises trainees in engineering, electrical, air traffic control, naval architecture, law, education, logistics, submarine cadre under the short service commission scheme and cadets under the commission worthy (technical) scheme.
