The biennial national festival slated for June 3-11 with the theme "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development" will bring together a record number of traditional and contemporary and sculpture delegations from 27 countries, including China, South Korea, Japan, India, the United States, France, Russia and Australia, said Le Ngoc Cuong, director of the Performance Arts Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The festival's major events will include various traditional and modern cultural and artistic programs, including music, dance, circus, drama, fireworks and martial art performance; sculpture, fine arts, photo and calligraphy exhibitions; folk games as sampan racing, kite flying, lantern procession and human chess competition; scientific symposiums; and tourism fairs, he said.

The festival will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hue's complex of monuments being listed as a World Cultural Heritage, and the 5th anniversary of Hue royal court music being recognized as a masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Vietnam plans to host 4.8-5 million international arrivals this year, rising 14.3-19 percent against last year, said the Tourism Promotion Department under the ministry's Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
