China Federation of Literary, Art Circles organizes 167 foreign exchange programs

BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) organized 167 exchange programs last year.

In 2007, 2,897 writers and artists participated in these exchange programs, the national conference of the CFLAC heard here on Friday.

The programs include a painting exhibition held in Switzerland and Italy last July. The exhibition displayed paintings on architectures, people, animals, plants of 192 member states of the United Nations by 200 Chinese painters.

In the past five years, the CFLAC has carried out more than 900exchange programs with artists of other countries, which have actively promoted people-to-people exchanges with the rest of the world, sources with the CFLAC said.

The CFLAC was founded in July 1949, and currently has more than50 members such as the Chinese Writers Association and the Chinese Dancers Association. Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng is also the current CFLAC chairman.
