Two myna birds kept by Yang Shaorong, a resident of Zhaotong city, Yunnan province, are able to speak more than 100 sentences in Chinese. Yang bought the birds about a year ago and began teaching them Chinese.

Yang's wife one day got a huge surprise when she returned home. Yang got one of the birds to say: "He has gone to work."

The birds have attracted much local attention, with some people offering to buy them for more than 3,000 yuan ($415). Yang has rejected all offers.
