Art performances held for academicians for upcoming Spring Festival

BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- More than 500 academicians, scholars and research experts attended an artistic performance here at the studios of China Central Television (CCTV) to mark the Spring Festival, the Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 7 this year.

The event was co-sponsored by the Organization Department, Publicity Department, and the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), as well as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Personnel and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

Li Yuanchao, a member of both the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Organization Department, gave thanks and offered festive greetings to the audience.

For some years, the event has been held to show respect to scholars and experts on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Li said.
