CANBERRA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Pope Benedict XVI arrived at Sydney, Australia on Sunday for attending the World Youth Day (WYD)celebrations.
He was welcomed by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at the Richmongd RAAF base airport on Sydney's north-western outskirts upon his arrival.
During his stay in the country, he will spend four nights at the tightly-guarded Opus Dei-run study center before officially joining the WYD program in a spectacular "Boat-a-cade" on Sydney Harbour on Thursday.
The Pope indicated that he will use this visit to apologize forsexual abuse by priests, according to Australian Associated Press report.
