Mt. Wutai ("five terrace mountain"), the sacred Buddhist mountains, comprise of five continuous mountains with flat peaks at altitudes from 2,500 to 3,000 meters above sea level, were added to the UNESCO's World Heritage List on June 26, 2009 during the 33rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Seville, Spain.
