BANGKOK, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has stockpiled about 35 million capsules of the anti-flu drug or oseltamivir to prepare for a possible second round of the A/H1N1 virus outbreak, a senior official said Tuesday.
Currently, it is estimated that nationwide hospitals and Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) have approximately 35million oseltamivir capsules, Doctor Vithit Attavijjakul, GPO director said.
Moreover, the GPO has prepared some raw materials, which will be enough for manufacturing 40 more million oseltamivir capsules, Thai News Agency quoted Doctor Vithit as saying.
Meanwhile, now the GPO has about 30,000 to 40,000 oseltamivir capsules for children as these oseltamivir capsules can be distributed immediately if requested by hospitals across the country, he said.
Also, the GPO can additionally produce oseltamivir capsules, if demand for the oseltamivir capsules for children rises, the GPO director said.
