Lijiang, Yunnan

Lijiang is an old city in beautiful surroundings in northwest Yunnan. It is situated on a plateau at an elevation of 2,600 meters and is impressive due to its scenery and lush vegetation. People go there for its tranquil atmosphere, classical buildings, delicate snacks and the unique customs of Naxi People. It is a real delight in autumn, visitors will find that the temperature changes greatly in a day. It is wise to bring warm clothes as well as sun protection and an umbrella.

Kangding, Sichuan

Kangding becomes well known mainly from the Kangding Love Song which is appealing to all people. It is a small city free from the pollution and overcrowding of the larger cities in the Sichuan Plain. There are high mountains, grasslands, fanciful castle-style houses and rich farms. It also has plenty of monasteries and colorful festivals. The autumn is the best season to travel in Kangding as it presents a varicolored amazing sight.

Detian Waterfall, Guangxi

Detian Waterfall lies in Daxing county in Guangxi along the Sino-Vietnamese border. It is the second largest transnational waterfall in the world. It falls thirty meters. The rocks and trees divide it into three parts. The thundering effect of the water hitting the cliffs can be heard from afar. The changing seasons transform the natural scenery of the waterfall throughout the year. The best season to enjoy the water scene comes in autumn. Besides the waterfall, the forest valley, underground river, magic cliff bury and Tongling Waterfall are also impressive experiences.

Longji rice terrace

Located in Longsheng county about 100 kilometers away from Guilin, the Longji rice terraces are built along the hillsides. This ingenious construction makes best use of the scare arable land and water resources in the mountainous area. The best scenery comes in half a month after the Mid-autumn Festival. The golden dropping ears of rice tier upon tier attract photographers who come in crowds.

Aer Mountain, Inner Mongolia

The scenery in northern China is of great beauty. In Aer Mountain, the golden white birches contrast finely with the deep green larches. Kanas, Xinjiang

The Kanas scenic area in autumn has three beautiful sceneries: early mist, lake and colors. Kanas Lake is also known as Changing Color Lake. The lake changes its color with the weather. When overlooked, the crescent-like Kanas Lake appears like a huge a palette with green and blue colors on it.

Yangtze Three Gorges cruise

The autumn is a good season to visit the Yangtze Three Gorges as the water level is neither too high nor too low. Starting from Yichang, there is much to visit on the way including the Three Gorge Big Dam, Shennong Valley, ancient cliff coffins, Yanziqian Cave and Fengdu Ghost City. During the journey, visitors can take the local small wooden boat upstream, listen to the clear Tujia music and watch the boat-pullers inch forward, step by step, keeping up a constant rhythmical "Heave ho! Heave ho!" At night, standing on the side of the cruise ship and watching the full moon rise, visitors will be satisfied with this easy journey.

Weishan Lake, Shandong

The Weishan Lake Wet Land in Shandong is the largest place to watch lotus. During the Mid-autumn Festival, it is a custom to admire the moon, eat the moon cakes and take part in the local fish banquet and riddle competitions. Besides, the Guanshi pomegranate garden in the neighboring Taierzhuang has countless rich fruits waiting for visitors to pick up.

Water towns in the southern bank of the Yangtze River

In Hangzhou, the best sight to spend a Mid-autumn night is of course the West Lake. The "autumn moon shining over the calm lake" and "three pools mirroring the moon" sights provide visitors a poetic autumn night. While in the water towns of Shaoxing, Suzhou and Tongli, visitors would like to sit in the teahouses beside the bridges, or take a boat shuttling forth and back in the waterways. Indeed an enchanting scene!
