Shanghai JiaoTong University has recently conducted a survey probing into China's best media employers among college students. According to the results issued yesterday, Sina.com stood out as the most popular online media employer, overmatching major domestic portals such as ifeng.com, Sohu and Tencent.
Those surveyed are over 300 undergraduates, postgraduates and doctors majoring in journalism or mass communications from more than 100 universities in 28 provinces as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Among them, postgraduates account for 75 percent.
In terms of "the most ideal employer in internet and digital media industries", 56.4 percent of the respondents favor Sina.com, 13.2 percent higher than the second-place ifeng.com (43.2 percent). Tencent and Taobao rank the third and fourth, owning 34.8 percent and 33.6 percent of supporters respectively.
When asked about what’s the best that media enterprises could offer, more than half of the surveyed chose opportunities to enhance personal core competence in a range of multiple choices. Also, 41 percent of the respondents chose a competitive salary, which is followed by attractive corporate culture, promising career prospects and good welfare.
