A latest blacklist of world's unauthorized universities has been published by the US Department of Education, Council for Higher Education Accreditation and some other subordinate departments. The updated list unveils 691 unrecognized universities and educational institutions, including some previously uncovered ones.

A report in 2010 exposed over 1,500 unlicensed universities all over the world.

What remains the same is that American universities still make up the majority of the unauthorized universities, accounting for 50 percent. Among them, California and Hawaii rank top two among all the involved states, with 45 and 30 universities of such kind respectively.

What is as follows is a list of 10 unauthorized universities in the U.S. Hopefully, it will sound an alarm to the would-be overseas students:

1 Columbia Federal State University

2 Washington University

3 Breyer State University

4 Greenwich University

5 American Central University

6 Atlantic International University

7 Columbus University

8 American University of Hawaii

9 International American University

10 Columbia State University
