BEIJING, Mar. 16(xinhuanet)-- Lil' Kim, with real name as Kimberly Jones, who maybe believed she was a Queen Bee, above the law, is on trial for lying to a federal grand jury investigating the roles of two friends, Damion Butler and Suif Jackson, in a 2001 shootout with hip-hop rivals.
No one was killed, but one man was seriously injured.
Did Lil' Kim's big head leave her believing she was above the law?
Such were the charges leveled by prosecutors during closing arguments at the rapper's perjury trial Monday.
During closing arguments in Lil' Kim's federal perjury and obstruction of justice trial in Manhattan on Monday(March 14), federal prosecutor Cathy Seibel urged the jury to convict the rapper because she told"preposterous" lies to a grand jury investigating the February 2001 shootout outside New York's WQHT-FM.
Lil' Kim's troubles began on Feb. 25, 2001, when members of her Junior M.A.F.I.A crew and rival hip-hopsters Capone-N-Noreaga exchanged gunfire outside of New York radio station Hot 97.

Video cameras at the station and on the street showed Butler was part of the group. He can be seen escorting Lil' Kim and others into the radio station and later standing on the street next to the performer when the shooting started.Lil' Kim allegedly told the grand jury that she didn't see Butler at the radio station the day of the shooting and failed to identify Jackson when presented with a photo, although the two have known each other for more than 10 years.
Over the course of the trial, Lil' Kim did her best to make nice with the jurors. She toned down her signature skimpy style and dressed conservatively, made frequent eye contact with the jury and at one point, even said hello to a juror and was subsequently reprimanded by the judge.
Lil' Kim, known for her racy outfits and raunchy language, has dressed demurely during the trial wearing suits and conservatively cut blouses.
The most serious charge against the performer is obstruction of justice, which carries a maximum 10-year prison term. She is also charged with one count of conspiracy and three counts of perjury, each of which carries a five-year prison term. Monique Dopwell, her friend and personal assistant, is also charged in the case.
Following the conclusion of closing arguments, the case will be turned over to the jury of five women and seven men. If the rapper is found guilty of all charges, she could face up to 30 years in jail.
