Lost film footage of The Beatles shooting their 1967 movie Magical Mystery Tour has been unearthed in a BBC archive store.

BEIJING, April 23-- Lost film footage of The Beatles shooting their 1967 movie Magical Mystery Tour has been unearthed in a BBC archive store.

The tape, which hasn't been seen for 40 years, features the Fab Four on a trip to Plymouth Hoe, south west England, in 1967.

It was only discovered when BBC archivists were transferring old reel onto digital format.

The film marks the second time in six months footage of the legends at work and play in the south west region of England has been found- last October, scenes of a Beatles visit to the region in 1964 were uncovered.

Local historian and Beatles fan Chris Robinson has verified the latest find by producing a poster of the band sitting on Plymouth Hoe itself.

He says:"It's so obviously Plymouth Hoe, with Smeaton's Tower in the background and the'wow' factor of the four of them in one place that you can say,'I know where that is.'"
