BEIJING, May 13-- The good news about Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith is that it's far more entertaining than the earlier The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.
The$US115 million($148million) film, shot mainly in Sydney, was shown to Australian journalists Wednesday ahead of its global release next Thursday.
Revenge of the Sith is a contest between good and evil, much of it played out through the deeply torn character of Anakin Skywalker as he transforms into the sinister Darth Vader.
There is a welcome return to a focus on characters, rather than the intergalactic politics that characterised the two previous Star Wars movies.
Fans are likely to embrace this final instalment, but there is little in the movie that is genuinely surprising, thanks to the relentless hype that has preceded it and the fact that, this being a prequel, we know what's going to happen.
And Lucas's quest for myth fulfilment doesn't provide us with anything as inventive or good-humoured as the bar scene in the original 1977 film.
