Thurman BEIJING, Oct. 11-- Movie star Uma Thurman sobbed on TV Sunday as she spoke for the first time about the break-up of her 5-year marriage to actor Ethan Hawke.

Thurman, 35, fought back tears as she told American chat show host Oprah Winfrey:"It's excruciating. There are so many hurt feelings."

The usually cool"Kill Bill" star split from her husband last summer(04) amid reports that Ethan played away with a waitress. The couple's divorce was finalised in August(05).

She told the TV host:"Half of America that gets married goes through what I've just been through and it's extremely hard and it's hard on the whole family.

"We were having a difficult time¡K Our marriage failed. I should take full responsibility for the failure of my own marriage."

"I had a child and went back into an incredibly demanding job and I think that put a huge amount of pressure on our marriage."

Thurman admits she faces an uphill struggle to befriend Hawke again, for the sake of their two children-- a daughter, Maya, seven, and a son, Levon, three.

"Blaming anybody doesn't make you feel better," she adds,"When you have two children, I think, that's such a priority to protect them."
