BEIJING, Dec. 9(Xinhuanet)-- Well known Chinese singer Wei Wei issued here Thursday a new CD entitled"The Myths of China", telling people six myths of ancient China with six newly composed songs.
Wei Wei told reporters Thursday at a press conference that she spent three years in producing the new CD, with the help of Chinese composer Yao Xiaoqiang and Zheng Jisi.
China has a continuous history longer than any other present-day nation, boasting a plethora of myths and legends, Wei said. The CD picked up six representative stories.
"All the stories embody the supernatural heroism of man in the traditional Chinese philosophy," Wei said, adding that such heroism cultivated the great thinking and wisdom of the Chinese nationality.
According to Yao Xiaoqiang, the new CD mixes symphony orchestra, electronic music, children chorus, pop music and folk songs together, which not only displays the ethnic flavor of the Chinese nationality, but also meets the demand of modern audience.
Wei Wei is a representative figure of the first group of pop singers in New China. In 1990, Wei Wei and Liu Huan sang a famous song called"Our Asia" during the 11th Asian Games in Beijing.
She has appeared frequently on television in many countries. In 1996, Wei Wei completed her very successful concert in Atlanta at the Olympics Games.
In January 1998, Wei Wei was invited by the government of South Africa and China to perform in Johannesburg for the dignitaries for both countries in celebration of their new relationship. Enditem
