According to Japanese media, Kashiwabara, 29, and Hatano, 31, had not lived together since last September. They plan to remain friends.
Actor Kashiwabara and model Hatano met January 2000 when co-starring in"God Sent Love" and were soon in love. The couple started living together in 2002. At the end of that year, Kashiwabara became seriously ill with migraines and shoulder problems and did not work until August 2003. Hatano cared for Kashiwabara during his illness and they were married in a low-key ceremony in June 2004.
On Dec. 30, 2004, Kashiwabara insulted a man in a traffic accident, hurting his public image. His planned TV series were all canceled and Kashiwabara was fined 200,000 yen(US$1,695) by the court. Despite Hatano's support in the case, Kashiwabara still remained depressed. Starting last September, he began saying publicly that he wanted to be alone and the couple finally split.
