BEIJING, August 13 -- Li Yapeng, father of Faye Wong's new born baby girl, admitted in his blog yesterday that the girl was born with a cleft palate, or "harelip".

He wrote that his three-month baby girl, named Li Yan, has accepted operations in the United States. He thanks all the experts and doctors worked for her and all the friends who show their supports in the whole thing.

Gossip about the harelip baby has swirling just after the 36-year-old Faye Wong gave birth to the girl in a Beijing hospital on May 27. But Li said he and his wife would not blame the paparazzi since it's their job to scoop the celebrities' privacy.

Li wrote in his blog,"There's a tale in South America that every baby born with harelip is a god. Every year there's about 10 thousand 'gods' like our daughter Li Yan come to the world in China. We have worked on the plan to establish a charity fund to help them."
