Photo Gallery >>> BEIJING, Sep. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Director Oliver Stone's film "World Trade Center," which is based on the 9/11 attacks, has received permission to be screened in China this December.

It will be the second foreign blockbuster to be shown in China that month, following "Miami Vice."

The film tells the true story of two Port Authority police officers who rushed into the burning World Trade Center towers on 9/11 to help rescue people, but became trapped themselves when the towers collapsed.

Director Oliver Stone stressed the film is not about death and destruction, but hope and rebirth, aiming to cure American's psychological hurt from the tragedy.

The 63 million-dollar budget film starring Nicolas Cage earned only 19 million dollars at the box office in its first week in the US.

The Chinese publicist of the film reponded, "The movie's reputation is actually quite good, but still many Americans are not willing to face this scar. The movie was directed in a somber, focused and straightforward manner that serves the material extraordinarily well. It deserves a positive expectation of box office receipts here in China."
