BEIJING, March 23 -- Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has replaced Maggie Cheung as the spokeswoman for a famous Hong Kong-based jewelry brand.

The domestic portal Sohu.com reports that Zhang attended a promotional event for the brand Thursday night in Beijing, in what was also the actress's first public appearance since returning from the US.

She chose a pure white dress to match the huge platinum necklace she wore.

During the event, Zhang Ziyi talked about the path to becoming a perfect woman. She was also frank in admitting she had just celebrated her 28th birthday.

Showing off the results of her English studies in New York, the actress greeted the audience in both Chinese and English.
