SHANGHAI, April 25 -- Two of the city's largest museums will host an exhibition of American art through history starting next month. The show, "Art in America: Three Hundred Years of Innovation," will run at the Shanghai Museum and the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art from May 1 through June 30. The event is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of American art ever held in China and the first to fully reflect the entire history of art in the United States, according to organizers, the Solomon R.Guggenheim Foundation and the Terra Foundation for American Art. The two museums will exhibit approximately 160 works, and systematically outline the development of American art over the last 300 years, from the colonial period of the 18th century to the present. Art works will cover a series of genres, ranging from pop art to abstract expressionism. The show features works by more than 120 important American artists, including Jackson Pollock's (1912-1956) "The Moon-Woman" and "Number 8."
