Oscar-winning Jolie to take year off from work

BEIJING, May23 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. movie star Angelina Jolie said she planned to take an entire year off from filmmaking to spend more time wiht her family in 2008, People magazine reported on Tuesday.

"We're getting work out of the way at the moment," said the 31-year-old actress, who had been shooting the thriller "Wanted" in Prague, Czech Republic.

"I take two months off, then I work for two months. Then I take a year off," Jolie told magazine's online editionon the sideline of the Cannes Film Festival.

Jolie and her partner Brat Pitt, 43, have four children: 5-year-old Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia; Pax Thien, 3, from Vietnam; 2-year-old Zahara, from Ethiopia; and daughter Shiloh, who was born to the couple last May 27.

Jolie, the star of the "Tomb Raider" films who won a best supporting actress Oscar for "Girl Interrupted," is reported to be working on three films: "Wanted," "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Changeling."

Jolie and Pitt have been in Cannes this week promoting their new film "A Mighty Heart," about the murder of U.S. reporter Daniel Pearl by Islamic extremists in 2002.

BEIJING, May 15 -- Angelina Jolie is fiercely battling to save daughter Shiloh's name from being misused.

Jewelery-design and perfume company, Hors La Monde Corp., is naming its most recent fragrance Shiloh, but the Tomb Raider has got in touch with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to combat the plans.

She was in Washington Thursday to help an orphans advocacy group establish its headquarters ans asked President George W. Bush to commit another 2.5 billion U.S. dollars to the cause.
