BEIJING,June 4-- Chinese rock singers Zhang Chu, He Yong and Dou Wei -- once called "Moyan record label's prominent three" in the 1990s -- will reunite on stage for a rock music festival to be held in July.

The last time the three were on stage together was back in 1994 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. That concert is considered to be one of the most influential in the history of Chinese rock music.

This year's rock music festival is scheduled to be held from July 20 to 22, at the unusual location of Ordos city, in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The event will feature a galaxy of rock stars, including Chinese mainland singers Xu Wei, Xie Tianxiao, Wang Feng and Luo Qi; Taiwan rock singer Wu Bai and Hong Kong musician Paul Wong; as well as mainland rock bands Tang Dynasty, Zero Point and Second Hand Rose.

The event organizer Lao Yao said at a press conference on May 31 that the music festival is part of a promotional tour concerning environmental protection. Rock stars will perform on the great grassland of Inner Mongolia, to promote the fight against deforestation.

The prominent three, all in their 30s, are looking forward to their co-performance, said Lao Yao.

The Moyan record label, a subsidiary of Rock Records, was founded in 1992 in Taiwan. During the 1990s the label signed contracts with many mainland rock singers and bands, who contributed greatly to the development of rock 'n' roll in China.
