BEIJING, Jun 19 -- A premiere ceremony for the Hong Kong comedy "Mr. Cinema", starring Anthony Wong, Karen Mok, Ronald Cheng and Teresa Mo, was held in Beijing on Monday.

Employing in a retrospective tone, the film aims to signify the persevering spirit of the Hong Kong people by telling the story of a Hong Kong projectionist's family over a 40-year period from 1967 to 2007.

Veteran actor Anthony Wong plays the part of the projectionist Zuo Changwang, Teresa Mo and Ronald Cheng, his wife and son. Karen Mok stars as Ronald Cheng's girlfriend.

Zuo Changwang, also called Lao Zuo, always said to his friends and family members in his early years that he loved China, and that his biggest wish was to visit Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Even forty years on, his dream still has yet to come true. Now, with many Hong Kong citizens checking in and out of the Chinese mainland on a daily basis, he is about to realise his dream.

Unlike his father, Zuo Zhong has always dreamt of making money. In the 1980s, with China having opened up her door to the world, he finally decides to undertake his adventurous dream of visiting the Chinese mainland.

Dubbed the "Cinema Paradiso" of Hong Kong, the film was praised by its audience when previewed in Hong Kong last week.

The film will hit Chinese screens nationwide on June 21, as a tribute to the upcoming tenth anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland on July 1.
