BEIJING, June 27 -- American pop star Christina Aguilera said "it's very exciting" to be in China.

The four-time Grammy-Award winner held her first Chinese mainland concert on Tuesday night at the Shanghai Grand Stage, where she sang in front of an audience of 8,400 people.

"It's very exciting for me to be here," she said.

The singer's "Back to Basics" world tour has taken her to meet fans in the United States, Europe, Japan and South Korea.

Aguilera is the latest international star to perform at the venue, following Roger Waters' show early this year, and the Rolling Stones' visit last April.
