BEIJING, Oct. 13 -- Italian fashion icon Valentino will be just one of the star attractions to attend this year's China Fashion Awards in Shanghai, the organizer, Channel Young television, announced Friday.

The award ceremony will be held on Dec. 9 at the Pudong Exhibition Center.

The annual gala party also promises to bring "the most glittering line-up of Chinese stars" and celebrities from all over the world selected from different industries, including fashion, entertainment, sports and business.

"Fashion in 30 years" is the theme of the 2007 awards, according to Tian Fang, vice director of Channel Young.

"The party pays tribute to those who have influenced Chinese people's ways of living in a certain period of time," she said. "It aims to recall people's treasured memories of the past 30 years."

Valentino will be at the party together with Chinese-American entrepreneur Yue-Sai Kan. It will be the Italian couturier's first trip to the mainland.
