THE third floor of the former home of the renowned educator Cai Yuanpei has been redeveloped into a museum and the restored house will be open to the public shortly.
An inauguration ceremony will be held today to celebrate the 140th anniversary of Cai's birth. A memorial book and special stamps featuring Cai will be issued this afternoon.
The third floor has been restored to the way it was when Cai was working and living there, showing Cai's own possessions.
More than 120 rarities donated by Cai's descendants and students will go on show, including furniture and medals. A furnace which was used by Cai will be installed as it originally was in the room.
The museum will also display carved wooden horses, rabbits and elephants bought by Cai for his children when they were young.
"Cai used to work on the third floor so we have tried to restore it as was originally," said a worker named Huang.
