BEIJING, Jan. 31 -- Over 2,000 vendors at an open market in Chengdu in southwestern China's Sichuan Province had lunch together on Tuesday to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.
180 tables were deployed in the market and more than 30 chefs began cooking from early in the morning reports Newspaper West China City Daily.
The vendors began preparing the lunch three days before and even the purchase of materials took an entire day. Over 250 kilos of pork, 1,500 kilos of vegetables as well as other materials required two vans to carry them.
The dinner began at noon with twenty delicious dishes. According to an administrator of the market, the custom has lasted for four years and the vendors enjoy the friendly atmosphere very much.
