Hasani, a six-month old western lowland gorilla, played with his surrogate mother Bawang at the San Francisco Zoo in San Francisco, the US, Friday, June 5, 2009.
Hasani, whose name means "handsome" in Swahili, is the first gorilla born in captivity at the zoo in 11 years.
Bawang, who's 29 years old, became the baby gorilla's surrogate mother after his birth mother Monifa showed no interest in raising him.
The western lowland gorilla's natural habitat is in Central Africa. It is currently on the critically endangered list.
