People fly Kongming lanterns, also known as sky lanterns, to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in Pingxi in northern Taiwan, Sept 12, 2011.

Kongming lanterns are paper lanterns traditionally found in some Asian cultures and always released during festivals such as the Chinese Mid-Autumn and Lantern festivals to pray for blessings.

 Pingxi town is well-known for its sky lanterns and its annual International Sky Lantern Festival near Lantern Festival.
