Mother of female astronaut hailed as "Contemporary Mother Meng"

Mother of Chinese female astronaut Liu Yang became a candidate for "Contemporary Mother Meng" in a large public benefit campaign held by the Henan TV station last night.

The TV station will pick on and award top 10 candidates as "Contemporary Mother Meng" in the next two months.

Mother Meng is the mother of Mencius, famous philosopher in the Warring States (403-221 BCE). His mother has also been held up as an exemplary female figure in bringing up offspring.
